چکیده
The deformation failure modes of gravity retaining walls include overturning, toppling, deep sliding, and eccentric failure. complex mode, which involves the multi-stage walls, suffers from a lack mechanical models design theories. Based on basic theory reinforced concrete construction, this study established calculation model bottom-confined (RC-GRWs), are composed tensile, compressive, rigid zones. Then, defined RC-GRWs’ normal-operation, cracking, yield, ultimate limit states, as well displacement RC-GRWs in these according to cracking steel reinforcement yield conditions. Accordingly, proposed method process determine RC-GRWs. A project case shows that for RC-GRW can effectively assess state in-service optimized cracked meet deformation-based requirements.

متن کاملseismic analysis of lateral earth pressure and retaining walls
eart pressure problems are encountered in retaining walls, bulkheads, sheeting and bracing in cuts, culverts, tunnels, and cofferdams. in many cases, the lateral pressure is determined by use of classical earth pressure theories, such as coulomb's, where the equilibrium conditions of a failure wedge of soil is considered. excessive dynamic lateral earth pressure on retaining structures resu...
متن کاملDesign Of Retaining Walls : System Uncertainty & Fuzzy Safety Measures
This paper explores some of the aspects of embedded retaining wall design, in particular the interrelationship between system uncertainty and the use of factors of safety in the various design procedures. System uncertainty reflects the mismatch between idealised retaining wall behaviour and what is observed in practice. This feature is modelled using the concept of fuzzy sets where the degree ...
متن کاملDesign of roadside barrier systems for MSE retaining walls
There is confusion among civil engineers in the United States regarding the applicable design method and the appropriate impact load for sizing the moment slab of roadside barrier systems atop MSE retaining walls. The design method and impact load discussed herein have been used successfully for more than 15 years to size the barrier moment slab and to determine the magnitude of loads applied t...
متن کاملProbabilistic Assessment of Pseudo-Static Design of Gravity-Type Quay Walls
Failure of the quay walls due to earthquakes results in severe economic loss. Because of hazards threatening such inexpensive nodes of national and international transportation networks, seismic design of quay walls is still an evolving topic in marine structural engineering. This study investigates the sensitivity of the gravity-type quay wall stability respect to uncertain soil and seismic pr...
